A kitchen becomes a hearth and garden
Connecting home and garden by slightly expanding an almost-eat-in kitchen to look out at its private garden. With the back stairs now gone, the kitchen is now large enough for an island allowing two to cook and many to socialize. Better still, breakfast is now served under a recessed cut in the ceiling with a distant view of Minnehaha Creek.
The garden has since been extended to reflect the kitchen bay with a curved hedge at the far end. The delight of the kitchen and its garden are now carefully aligned.
