On North Haven Island Looking up the Penobscot Bay
Long-time summer visitors to North Haven Island, this client wanted a house that was sustainable and had a timeless aesthetic. Recalling small New England houses of the past, this house is composed of a series of shed forms, each with views of Penobscot Bay and light lapping in from three sides.
Built of locally sourced, third-party certified, sustainably harvested lumber (the only lumber available at the local yard) the ethos of this house is consistent with the climate and aesthetic of the island as well as the remoteness of limited ferry service.
